One of the most important parts of the recruiting process is understanding the rules. Understanding the rules will allow you to make the best decisions when it comes to picking your path forward for your baseball career.
There are a lot of players out there that get "advised" to go to schools they have no business going to. An NCAA Division 1 school is not the best choice for every player. The reality is Division 1 baseball IS professional baseball. Not only is it a full time job for the player, but you have coach's livelihoods on the line. This means that if you don't perform as a player, you're not going to be on the field. There is very little room for development in the current environment. You are sometimes being "advised" to go to a higher division so that the advisor can stick the school's pennant on the wall and say he did all the work to get you there (which isn't true anyways).
What is a "4-2-4"?
The rule we're looking at today is called the "4-2-4 rule". What this basically means is that you went to a 4-year college, it didn't work out and you went back to Junior College, and are looking to go back to a 4-year school after that.
