Starting the New Year Gaining Ground with Stride

Noah is a very strong hitter that has very good rhythm. He had an excellent sophomore season at Harbor and summer with CCB. There are a couple things we monitor with Noah. First, he has a very open stance, which means his stride is going to naturally go toward home plate. This isn't bad, but a lot of players with open stances tend to stride too much toward home plate and too little toward the pitcher. We want our momentum to be meeting that of the baseball. If our stride is too across relative to forward, we can create momentum toward right (or left) field. In the video below Noah is working on just this. You can see in the last few swings that his foot is moving toward home plate, but also toward the pitcher.
