Hitting Slot at the Top - Summer 2024
Jacob does a really good job of getting his barrel behind the baseball for a long time. He's got a really good path and good hand-eye to go with it. I would expect him to have a very good junior high school at Leigh High School in San Jose.
What we were playing with here was just the position of the bat and hands at the top. Jacob felt like he was getting a little rotational and not staying on balls long enough. Prior to this video, his hands had been getting a little behind him. That means they weren't working as straight back to the catcher and a lot more to the left net of the cage. This also got his bat very wrapped at the top. If you drew a straight line down from the tip of the bat, the line would be way past his head. You can see these two things in the video here:
