Timing the Front Foot Down
Evan is physically pretty strong for a freshman. He's got good athleticism and people will love that he's a left handed bat. When Evan runs into balls he's strong enough to hit balls into gaps. What we're going to work on is the consistency with which he can do that.
One thing a lot of youth/high school players are taught is to "get their front foot down early". They get taught this because we are deathly afraid of being late. But this definitely limits our ceiling if we are consistently down super early and it will hinder us from hitting breaking balls well. If we get our foot down so early that it breaks our swing into two parts, we aren't maximizing the use of our athleticism through the swing.
